Sarah Barker – “Miss Vintage”

A fabulous fusion of swing & modern sounds

A classy show packed with classic songs, old and new, by current female singers and the jazz legends that have inspired them… with songs by artists including: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Andrews Sisters, Caro Emerald, Paloma Faith, Amy Winehouse and Imelda May ”

“A fabulous fusion of Swing, Jazz and modern sounds”.

“A Highly entertaining tribute to the Classic Jazz Divas of yesteryear and today”.

Unique, sophisticated and fun.

Sarah’s versatile voice lends itself perfectly to the classic jazz tunes but also the modern jazz/pop songs of recent years. The perfect mix for a wonderful evening.

Sarah studied at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts on a three year performing arts course. As a dancer, she appeared in the Really Useful Group’s musical ”Joseph & his Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat” starring Phillip Schofield, and a six month tour of ”Hollywood & Broadway” with Wayne Sleep and Lorna Luft, as well as several pantomimes, cruises and cabaret shows.

After hanging up her dancing shoes, Sarah enjoyed a stint as a television researcher on various shows for Celador Productions and the BBC, before joining BBC Radio Kent where she was a producer for their drivetime show.

Now, having returned to her performing roots, (this time concentrating on her singing) Sarah has quickly built a reputation as a great jazz singer with a modern edge. Her versatile voice lends itself perfectly to the classic jazz tunes of yesterday but also to the edgier, pop songs of recent years. The Miss Vintage show makes great use of Sarah’s vocal ability and pays homage to some of her favourite female artists. Perfect for corporate events, weddings, parties and any occasion where something unique, sophisticated and fun is required.

The Miss Vintage show was inspired by, and is dedicated to Sarah’s late father, Kenny Barker, a renowned jazz pianist.

A genre shows that a lot of people will enjoy , young and old. It spans the decades and is classy, with a great vibe to it. ‘A feel good evening with lots of style”.

Just wanted to say thank you for suggesting Sarah Barker for my party.

Sarah certainly has a brilliant voice and fitted the bill entirely. I really enjoyed her singing and I know that some of my guests spoke to her at the end of the evening to say how much they enjoyed her performance. She was totally professional and had lots of us up dancing (and singing along) both to the general music and to her songs.

I will recommend Sarah if anyone asks me about a singer.

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how impressed we were with Sarah. She gave a fantastic performance which was pitched at exactly the right level for the party’s requirements and I received numerous remarks from guests about how much they enjoyed her singing, her music selection and how good she was.

She was an excellent professional who went out of her way to ensure that our expectations were matched and I would recommend her without hesitation.
